Join Mrs. Durand on Friday, September 18th at 8:00 AM for a presentation on Back to School Tech Tips for parents/caregivers. This workshop will explain how to navigate Google Classroom and Infinite Campus. Families can learn more about Google Guardian summaries and how to get set up with notifications. No need to RSVP – just show up! The recording of this workshop will be made available in the weekend update.

On Thursday, October 15th from 6:45pm to 8:45pm Madison Middle School will be holding its 36th annual Eighth Grade Career Night. Our grade eight students, along with a parent or guardian, will enjoy the expertise and knowledge of many local business professionals. Each presenter conveys their own wisdom and background experience, as well as, valuable insights into the educational requirements and work skills needed in a particular field.
Students have been researching their future career interests and identifying their own personality styles by using the schools online Naviance program. The Language Arts Department, Counseling Department and the MMS P.T.A. look forward to seeing grade eight students and a parent on October 15th.

Please see the list of materials your child will need for the 2026-2027 school year. This list applies to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders at Madison Middle School. In communication with our teachers, this list was created in order to minimize what students will carry throughout the day.

In support of our efforts to promote a healthy digital balance, we are launching a new summer campaign: Unplug to Recharge. This initiative reflects our district's commitment to ensuring technology serves as an intentional learning tool rather than a constant presence in our children’s lives. By establishing clear boundaries for device use over the Summer Break, we hope to partner with families in cultivating a healthy, well-rounded environment where students can find a truly restorative balance. While Trumbull Public Schools place a high value on technology as an asset for learning, we are equally committed to helping students develop healthy habits and a thoughtful relationship with screen time. To support this over the break, district-issued Chromebooks for students in grades 5–8 will be restricted during the summer months, with access open only to the required Khan Academy website for math summer work from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Summer Reading and Mathematics
Get ready for summer reading season! This middle school summer reading website lists book suggestions that can appeal to all. The Curriculum Department and your school librarians recommend that you review this site and make your own decisions based on the suitability of the books for your individual child.
Students are encouraged to read a minimum of two books during the summer break. To assist students in their selection, our teacher-librarians have organized lists of recommended books by genre. While we suggest books that align with students’ interests and reading levels, students are welcome to explore additional titles beyond this list. Please find Summer Reading information about these titles and the recording form.
To support your student’s learning and growth of their conceptual and procedural understanding for mathematics, we are asking students to complete work through Khan Academy’s Get Ready Courses which is part of the CT Commissioner’s 2026 Summer Math Challenge, where students can earn mastery points and complete missions to review concepts and skills that they will need for the math courses that they will begin in the fall.
